About South Seas
South Seas Film & Television School has been fuelling the film and television industry for 27 years.
Founded by Gerben Cath in 1991 using his film production studio facilities on Auckland's North Shore, our South Seas Film and Television training is grounded in intensive, practical courses.
The school has bred an army of creatives in post-production, directing, scriptwriting, art and design, animation and VFX, acting and photography.
Throw a stone at a film set in New Zealand and you're bound to hit a South Seas Film & Television School graduate.

We’ve created these introductory courses as a way to allow students to test their skills in their chosen areas. The full-time programmes are exclusive, and completing an introductory course can be an excellent way of getting your foot in the door.

Set up like a real-life Hollywood-style studio, the South Seas Film School Campus is a 40,000 square foot production complex housing every piece of specialty equipment you could need to bring your ideas to life.
Focused around one-year intensives, your studies here replicate the rigours of the industry and you will graduate ready to hit the ground running.
Home to our On-screen Acting course, the theatre is equipped with a big screen and full THX-certified sound.
Our state-of-the-art television studio is equipped with four Blackmagic 4K cameras. There’s a production control room, a high-tech post-production suite and an industry-grade recording studio with soundproof booth. Our production facilities include a production office for meetings, a director’s room for developing ideas, and Avid Cinemas for viewing rough cuts and experimental work.
There’s always something cool taking shape here. Housed in a separate building, the Set-building Workshop and Art Department feature a large workshop, classroom, open-plan design office, production meeting room, costume and makeup department and prop storage rooms.
